Now on to the gig itself.

The very first time we played in Johannesburg was about 2 years ago, and it was a MAD CIRCLE. It was also one of our favorite gigs. We used one of the pics form the show on our CD EP 'The Path Less Travelled'.

Woo, the venue had changed somewhat since our last visit! The seedy paintings on the walls have been replaced by some graf style artwork. Nifty. The whole place has been revamped, tiled floors, etc. Pretty smart.
Soundcheck was great. We had an hour to go over all our songs with Rory (the new drummer man!), and it really was sounding incredible. Craig was behind the sound desk the entire night and a big thanks has to go to him for the good evening.

After soundcheck, we hit the pizza jol downstairs. Who knows what they were called but yeessh was it ever the best tasting pizza in the world. haha. Yes, we were starving. We hung there with the Fuzi boys until it was opening time.
We could see people arriving at the venue from 7.30pm. We sat there gobbling pizza slices and thinking, man, is this gonna rock!!??

An hour later we went upstairs - sooo many people!! argh! Struggled through the mobs and set up our Racket Records merchandise next to Give and Take Records table. Awesome! 2 distros in one scene. It was cool. As usual the 011 scene bought heaploads. Good grief, couldn't keep up with the hands, questions, and buys...! Nice one.

A nice touch to the evening was the ska DJ. He played soothing roots ska sounds all night. He entertained us endlessly...especially the rapping over songs.

First band up: Dunnaway. Ex Green Pepper Harry we heard. Boy have they gotten tight! The GPH demos sucked a bit, but Dunnaway were sounding as good as any punk rock band in the world. Catchy, vibey tunes, which even got the floor warming up and the kids hurling arms.

Grr. We had bumped into Vinnie Vendetta on the stairs earlier... "Who the hell was that???" we all said...
Flip, check him out on stage: its the Vendetta Cartel!!! Boy has Vinnie's hair grown! He looked like a dealer from Cuba:
They pulled out a bunch of new songs (well to us anyway), and a couple faves (Beer more than Girls, Traffic). The kids knew the words and whirled around in the pit.

10 minutes later we did our thing. The only words for this is that it was our best show EVER!
Everyone seemed to enjoy it so much. Girls and Boys singing along (how did they know the words??), a non circle pit (yeah!), and sweat flying everywhere.

Woah! FuziGish next up. These guys prove what regular gigging and quality musicianship can do. The place went totally mad with at least 100 people dancing and SCREAMING the words to songs. Respect Fuzi!

After packing up, we hit the road with the 011 posse. 3 cars and about 20 kids. We were trying to find the infamous 'Ghost Hill' of Johannesburg. Did we? No?
30 minute of fun missioning around, and we headed to a takeaway for a much desired Chocolate milkshake. What a way to end it off.

We returned home with a renewed energy and enthusiasm after such a great event. Hopefully be make in mid-December to do it again, keep your ears to the ground.
